At just 10 years old, Christian Li from Australia has accomplished what most musicians can only dream of. He made history by becoming the youngest-ever winner of one of the world’s most prestigious violin competitions – the Yehudi Menuhin, held at Victoria Hall in Geneva, Switzerland back in April 2018.
It all started when Christian first picked up the violin at the tender age of 5, under the guidance of Dr. Robin Wilson, the head of the violin department at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne. Christian has since dedicated his life to mastering the violin, and it’s certainly paid off!
When asked about his experience at the Yehudi Menuhin competition, Christian shared that the most exciting part was the chance to meet his violin heroes and perform in front of them.
During the competition, Christian captivated the audience with his flawless performance, including the Summer concerto from the famous Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi and a piece by a new composer, Jaehyouk Choi, called Self in Mind. It’s clear that Christian is a musical prodigy with a bright future ahead of him.
