Whitney Houston’s incredible voice and capacity to hit notes that few others could ever aspire to attain astounded listeners for decades. Most singers will always aspire to be like her. Young Brazilian vocalist Gabriel Henrique performed Whitney Houston’s ‘Run to You’ and killed it. He delivered a mind-blowing audition that had the judges and the studio audience in awe and standing.
Gabriel’s voice exhibited a lovely and pleasant tone throughout his audition. His several vocal runs were amazing, but much more so. He kept striking high notes. Several times throughout Gabriel’s audition, the camera caught the judges and several audience members with their mouths open. Nobody could believe that a voice was emanating from him that sounded like a mashup of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. It was astounding!
The young man received compliment after compliment from each judge. They all struggled to accept what they had just heard. Sofa Vergara, an actress and judge, was the most gushing in her admiration of Gabriel. His audition, according to her, was ‘spectacular’ and ‘perfect.’ But Sofa pulled the decision out of the hands of her fellow judges and cast it for the young man.
Gabriel received Sofa’s lone and exclusive Golden Buzzer for the year! Gabriel, who could only manage a few phrases of English, soaked in the lovely occasion as confetti started to rain onto the stage. He was seen wiping tears from his eyes as a result of his overwhelming emotion. What a wonderful voice! Few people possess the skills Gabriel displayed during his audition.
