When, to the excitement of Sofía Vergara, a group of handsome men in traditional Mexican clothing took the stage on ‘America’s Got Talent’, no one expected the room would become hotter than a sunny day in Mexican riviera.
The men in question form a group called Guapacharros, which loosely translates into, surprise, surprise, a word handsome. With the help of their choreographer Humberto Martínez, they have become somewhat of a TikTok sensation.
Despite that, they have come to ‘America’s Got Talent’ to promote Mexican culture and to hopefully make their lives and the lives of their families better. They said: “This is the biggest performance of our life, and we are going to pour out on stage our souls, our hearts, our passion!”
Sofía Vergara asked them: “What are you going to do tonight?” The very unassuming answer follows: “We will do what, uh, Guapacharros can do.” And boy oh boy, they can do!
It all started with an impressive display of traditional singing and dancing. They sang in a traditional street singer style that cuts through the noise without a need for a microphone.
Suddenly the mood changes, with the musical backing turning to Backstreet Boys hit ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)’ and Guapacharros’ shirts flying off their bodies.
The shock of a welcome surprise settled on Sofía Vergara’s and Heidi Klum’s faces. At the same time, Guapacharros continue their topless dance seduction with a grand finale on ‘We No Speak Americano’ by Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP.
The Mexican flavored ‘Magic Mike’ performance invigorated the audience and the judges, especially Heidi Klum which, at the end of the act, protested: “No, not yet! Why are they stopping already?”.
